One of the factors that led to Alyssa’s disillusionment was with bodily autonomy and her search for authenticity outside of the constraints of religion. As critics are wont to say, the LDS Church and its commandments/gospel teachings are “high demand”. Some of these expectations that the gospel of Jesus Christ might put on members may be beyond and/or not conform to the personal desires of what some call “bodily autonomy” and “authenticity”.

Thanks. I’m very interested to hear MG explain himself on this one. He’s been pushing the body autonomy angle as the catalyst to her other problems with the Church, so I think he needs to expand just what his point is.

She did the podcast at Mormon Stories in two parts. I watched around two thirds of the first episode. I didn't read the show notes. You seem to want me to give acquiescence/deference to you, IHQ. "Prove me wrong," "Explain yourself," etc.

I don't owe you anything beyond the time of day. And I think there is a seven-hour difference. So that won't do you any good. Chill out dude.

I think there may be another way of looking at it. Women are, under the auspices of the concept of bodily autonomy, able to receive an elective abortion. The church frowns on the taking of life from an unborn child unless absolutely necessary. The church also frowns on fornication, sodomy, and adultery. One might say that these things fall under the category of bodily autonomy.

Now, what Alyssa is referring to, I can't say for sure. She may be referring to other choices a woman might make in regard to her body that might be a bit less of a concern from a religious perspective.
