It's interesting that HoundDogMike glowingly describes the Mental Gymnast as nothing more than a troll who relishes the responses to his disruptions. I'm glad these two have found each other.
Marcus, you've just demonstrated EXACTLY what he was referring to/talking about. And you keep feeding into it seemingly without recognizing it.

President Nelson in Time Magazine to celebrate being the oldest religious leader currently living:

It’s a Meridian Magazine piece, not a Time Magazine piece. The Time Magazine piece is an Op-Ed by Nelson himself, it isn’t Time Magazine article celebrating Nelson.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Fascinating. The Troll admits he is only here to disrupt.

His prophetic promises:
https://latterdaysaintmag.com/prophetic ... elson-101/
No. That’s very misleading.
In today’s cover story, we have gathered many of President Nelson’s promises and have paused to gather ourselves to attention in contemplation of his righteous and wonderful life. Reading these promises not only inspire us but they give us a powerful sense of hope.
Nelson making a promise is not the same as Nelson Prophesying. Here’s a useful definition of ‘Prophecy’ - Prophecy is a message believed to be communicated by a supernatural entity to a person known as a prophet, often containing divine will or knowledge about future events. Prophecy would have been warning humanity specifically about Covid, or the financial crash of 2008, in advance.

A well meaning generic statement does not meet that criteria.
President Nelson does the same thing that the ancient prophets did: conveying God's will and expectations, instructions, and warnings. Also, explaining the blessings or consequences of obedience or disobedience to God's covenant. We are a covenant people of the Lord. President Nelson's prophetic calling is to keep us on that path and not stray as is prone to happen among some, if not many.

His role also includes, as did Old Testament prophets, defending those marginalized in society, such as widows, orphans, and the oppressed. President Nelson's outreach has been notable. I previously mentioned the work he has done with the NAACP and other groups that work with and represent marginalized people.

In Old Testament times prophets were also 'preachers', delivering God’s messages to those that lived in thier time about the conditions that surrounded them and encouraged them to live according to the 'Law of the Lord' and obey the commandments. President Nelson constantly encourages members of the church to seek the Lord and live by His commandments.

Prophets are also examples of faith, obedience, courage, and dedication to God and His work on the earth. President Nelson is a stellar example for members of the church to look to and follow. Of course, critics will bitch and whine otherwise.

And, of course, when there are course corrections for the church to make, the Prophet, along with the Brethren...in counsel...receive the revelation to make those adjustments and corrections. Of course, critics will simply see that as 'corporate mangagement".

MG

If you're going to use this as an 'escape' from having to actually engage with content, you are not helping your cause to disrupt and cause distress and give limited information that supports your cause. I've already said that I use online search to find information, read it, analyze it, and then come up with my own response. In regard to Old Testament prophets it was helpful to do some research as to what the function/purpose of Old Testament prophets were. As I did so I readily came to the conclusion that Old Testament prophets paralleled the function/purpose of modern prophets in many ways.

You are simply unwilling to concede that fact.
