Re: Pot, Meet Kettle: A Master Class in Hypocrisy from a Self-Proclaimed Paragon of Truth
I didn't want to be crude and tell you that you were missing the point. Let me simply point (pun intended) out that when we are using the figurative language of 'pointing a finger at God' we are essentially saying, "This is what I believe about God". That is why I came back to belief as being the primary factor in a recent post.
You point a finger at God and call him a 'monster'. In other words, that is what you believe about God. I point my finger at God and say that He is a kind and loving Father in Heaven. In other words, that is what I believe about God.
I hope this gets to the "point".
Periodically within posts I will point out (pun intended again) that there are a few posters that I will not interact with (not you malkie, I find you interesting to talk with) . One can probably see why when looking at the most recent post on this thread by one of those posters. When some individuals take it upon themselves to be the 'area authorities' on what motivates others, what they are saying or thinking, be the ultimate judge of character, etc., it is a waste of my time to go there.
I've saved ALOT of time already.
The trade off is I know there is a good chance there is a lot of 'bad mouthing' going on. In those instances by not responding, this essentially acts as a blanket TTOC or as one poster said it, "snore". I made the mistake of interacting with one of those posters I have on ignore and now regret it. Now all I'm getting is a bunch of teasing and at times inappropriate (my judgement) language or sacrilegious (my judgement) references. I don't want to be bombarded with stuff that I find somewhat disgusting. Another poster that constantly comes back to the 'troll' accusations, well, I've said all I have to say on that.
As it is, there are really not that many people that I feel comfortable conversing with and on the other hand I realize there are others that probably have me on ignore. A few of the people that I have on ignore mentioned a while back that they were going to put me permanently on ignore but have apparently forgotten they said that or have purposefully reneged on that promise. Keep your commitments!
Anyway, malkie, I hope we are somewhat on the same page now. You can point your finger at God and say anything you want! But please allow believers to do the same thing.
Regards,
MG

Should we expect, then, that you will no longer complain about another poster's statement of what they believe about (hypothetical) god, or their non-belief in god?MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 6:06 pmI didn't want to be crude and tell you that you were missing the point. You know how you keep complaining that us critics are trying to constrain your god, and saying what we think he should or would do or think? And yet you frequently seem to be insisting that his plans and actions should conform to your idea of " just plain common sense". What gives you that right, I wonder.

If I point at God and say that I believe or I believe that, I would expect that I will get some pushback. And I do! If you or anyone else points at 'god' and expresses non-belief in god, I will at times push back. As I have! It goes both ways.malkie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 6:29 pmShould we expect, then, that you will no longer complain about another poster's statement of what they believe about (hypothetical) god, or their non-belief in god?MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 6:06 pmI didn't want to be crude and tell you that you were missing the point. I hope that you can see/realize that we are both on equal footing in what we can say without it being considered, "complaining". A healthy debate requires this, in my opinion.malkie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 6:04 am...

What would be the noticeable differences for us humans in our earthly existence, between:
1. A world where a lot of people believe in a variety of Gods, but only the Mormon version of God actually exists.
2. A world where a lot of people believe in a variety of Gods, but none of them actually exists.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Dr. Shades, did you notice mentalgymnast admitted he typed a prompt into an AI generator (Gemini) and then posted the link? You have repeatedly told mentalgymnast he is not allowed to post AI content, so now he's found what he thinks is a loophole by posting a link to AI content. In other threads, mods have removed this AI link from his 'loophole' process:
It seems clear he will continue to use this 'loophole' even though you've disallowed it. It's one of his standard trolling techniques to keep pushing loopholes that mods have already closed.

Good point. I hadn't noticed it, so I stand corrected.Marcus wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 7:49 pmDr. Shades, did you notice mentalgymnast admitted he typed a prompt into an AI generator (Gemini) and then posted the link? Damn it, MG 2.0, Gemini is A.I.!! How many times have I told you ***NOT*** to link to, post from, use, utilize, think about, or acknowledge the existence of A.I. while participating on this message board??MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 4:00 pmAnyway, as you ended up saying (you said you were capable of doing it), is typing in to Gemini, "Is the God of the Old Testament a monster?", and you will find that things spread/flesh out into a deeper reflection and series of possibilities than simply pointing a finger at God and telling him what He is.
TWELFTH REMINDER: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DOES NOT EXIST. YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT. YOU WILL NEVER, EVER USE IT. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE. THERE ARE NO LOOPHOLES TO THIS RULE. THERE ARE NO WORK-AROUNDS TO THIS RULE.

Yes. The 12th reminder is the charm. Or maybe it’ll be the 13th or 14th. How many reminders about ones flagrant board rule breaking is a poster entitled to before other action is considered? How many chances did ludwigm get? Asking for a friend…Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 9:46 amGood point. in my opinion the problem is nothing to do with MG not knowing that Gemini is A.I., or to do with his not realising that he is breaking the rules. He is simply doing what he wants to do because - well, this is my conjecture - he expects to get away with it because you are understandably reluctant to be seen as silencing one of the few LDS-friendly voices here.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 9:46 amGood point.
