I take it to mean her asking MG what is his intent.... not go away. Why are you here Dr. Shades? See? I am not intending to say scram or get lost, I am asking you what your function is here. That is how I read Msnobody's post. Of course, we all know after years of obfuscation MG won't give her the real reason, yes, that won't cause any surprises at all.

I'm probably the most transparent person here. The problem is, when I am transparent and vulnerable, as I was recently, I'm not believed. That makes it difficult to clearly communicate. It causes a bit of difficulty if I can't trust others to trust me.

I accept it for what it is.

It also explains why there are some folks I will not discuss things with anymore. It's a matter of trust and respect...and a bit of empathy. I will not continue any type/kind of relationship with someone who cannot let go of a bygone grudge or that I know is a proven liar.

I’m happy he is here too. As over the years, posters have tended to try to understand the mind set of other posters so we will better know where they are coming from, and can more effective dialogue.

I believe he has said in the past that some of his views may be unorthodox. I hope he elaborates here!

I am not one to speculate on MG's reasons for posting here, but I want him to continue to visit and share his perspective. He may do it partly because he does not want the board to be utterly bereft of any bearers of an LDS testimony. He may do it to call us all to repentance. He may do it to prove that the LDS faithful can endure this kind of abuse on a regular basis. In any case, he is welcome.

I say this while noting and agreeing with others that msnobody never intended to suggest that MG is anything less than welcome here.

We've been through this before.

I suppose I should thank you for this expression, but if I flipped it and said that you're welcome here it would be kind of weird, right? You already know you're welcome.

I see it the same way. I already knew I was welcome by some. A majority? Not sure.

If you posted more and expressed views and/or started threads that might be open to discussion...like my "God writing straight with crooked lines" thread...and others...you might get some more attention than you do.

Let me stick my neck out on the line here. I do know that I am only a guest here, and have never been LDS, which has nuances and challenges of its own when entering into the LDS/former LDS world as an outsider. Nevertheless, this is where my life has led.

You are welcome here just as much as anyone else, including me.

I would not disinvite or suggest anyone leave, publicly or privately. It does seem, however, to me anyway, that it’s permissible for other posters to post in a manner with what seems to me with dialogue with an end goal of destroying one’s LDS faith or any faith they may have.

I would basically agree with this.

Really, it has seemed to me that the trajectory of the board has turned in this direction a good while ago, and I’ve often wondered if that has become the mission of the board.

I would qualify that to say that a few 'squeaky wheels' seem to have taken that "mission" upon themselves. They remain unchallenged by any 'moderates' that might be here.

Like I mentioned to Kish one time, that this discussion board is a place where I don’t feel like I could ever invite anyone LDS/questioning/former LDS to come here.

As it is now, I would agree with you. It's difficult to have a balanced/civil discussion. There are a few folks that will do/say anything in order to maintain control of the narrative.

Seems there used to be a small thread of compassion for others who were in a different place in their spiritual walk. Each person has there own after all.

I agree. Compassion and empathy would go a long way at this point. As it is, there are a few that because of past hurts and perceived injustices have not been able to let go.

Other members of the church, or Christians/believers in general, seeing 'how it goes' decide not to participate.
