Limnor, you really think that MG 2.0, the Troll-in-Chief, cares about the historical record or can posit an argument that does not involve a strawman?
Straight up? No I don’t. I think his approach is to make as much noise as possible to cover gaping holes and maintain some semblance of belief.
Fifteen years on this board and still not a single person finds Fibber honest or trustworthy. Imagine spending fifteen years trying to build a reputation that no one believes in.

It’s an incredibly consistent opinion of him. New people come in, interact with him in good faith, and come away having independently formed the same opinion - that MG is dishonest, and does not discuss in good faith.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

The recent flurry of posts on this board are from people in whom I have little or no interest in having interaction with. The list, over time, has admittedly grown larger and larger. The word "insipid" has been used. This alone tells me that my words have had a potential positive impact on those that are unseen and unheard from on this board. The 'regulars' are expected to do what they do. I do what I do. Never the twain shall meet. I have no illusions on that count. I've said previously that my purpose is to provide a counterpoint to the critic's onslaught of information/opinion that is often incomplete/inconclusive/incorrect.

Of course, the echo chamber effect is going to go into full swing when I step up and through a monkey wrench into their finely tuned machine.

I'll do what I do..and take the heat. You do what you do with the well calibrated support system that exists here.

I don't expect anything less/more.

Recent interactions with one or two more posters has unfortunately shrunk the list of those that I find any interest in discussion with. It is what it is. It's not that I have any fear in communication with them, it's more of a "well, this is not going to go anywhere and we will simply go around in circles" kind of thing.

When there is a bit of give and take, that I find productive and interesting. I learn. Others learn.

But that, unfortunately, is not the way it works with those posters that have, for the most part, taken over the board. You'll never get other active members of the church here with the dynamics that exist. Some have come along and figured out the game plan and have left.

Yes, I stuck around longer.

Why? Good question. One that I was able to answer in the affirmative and with purpose until recently. This place is, if nothing else, a finely tuned machine. Evolution has done its work.

Regards,
MG

MG has now posted twice in two separate threads that basically, when reduced, reads as “I’m not engaging with you people” in a super long message addressed to those same people.

If the machine is that finely tuned, someone should probably update the shift schedule in the faculty lounge. It may be incorrect.
