Have not updated (or kept updates neat and tidy) as much as I'd like to. Life's been lifey around here.
Self Help Skills
Can do virtually everything for himself.
Needs occasional help with socks, shoes and the much hated (yet necessary) TED hose of course.
Showers, etc. on his own.
Walks with walker, cane, and sometimes walks without either.
Cool pack at night.
Ice machine once a day.
Slowly editing out equipment to go to storage.
Operates motor vehicle.
Dry run on driveway and back.
Packed up the walker and went to coffee the other night.
Drove to appointment in Denver, a visit, and back home again. Helper as co-pilot.
Went to PT on his own and quick grocery store visit.
It's a major effort to accomplish these things. Exhausting.
It helps if you want to get out of the house and away from your Helper.
Post Op follow up Appointment
Staples removed.
Great report all around!
I want to update that preparation list as I said I would. We're a little more than busy right now with other stuff that's been going on the whole entire time.
I'll try to get to it. It'll serve as a reminder to myself and be there if anyone reading wants to scan it for additional ideas.
This second TKR progressed much like the last. I'd characterize/summarize it as follows:
Week 1: Utter hell, continuous needs
Week 2: Turning corners, moving forward
Week 3: Almost 100% indepedence
Thanks to those who followed this chapter with us. You know who you are.
