I've been informed that certain people voted for Trump because their religion encouraged them to do so.

I just have to say, if you believe in a god that wanted Trump to be President, you believe in a damned moron asshole of a god. If you think your god hates immigrants, I know that means you hate immigrants and you're a damn up and an asshole. Screw you.

It's obvious that the god people create to believe in is just a reflection of their values, so that means believing in a damned moron asshole god makes you a damned moron asshole. Only a damned moron asshole god would think the orange Trump would be a good idea as President for anybody. You believe in an evil, non-loving god, because as a Trump voter, you're an evil non-loving asshole, despite the idiotic lies you tell yourself about your righteousness. The god you worship is an absolute piece of crap. “F” your idiot god (i.e. “F” your idiotic idea).

I've gotten to the point in my life where I hate religious people for succumbing to their masturbatory (self-gratifying) stupidity and self-deception. Screw you, assholes. You are a psychological drain on decent people. Your existential angst makes you think like a moron. In other words, you're a moron. The proof is in the asshole you worship.

Religion is for damned children. Grow up, you immature damned idiots.

I say "grow up" as though becoming mature is going to solve your mental issues. Believing in a supernatural all powerful being is a mental illness. It occurs to me that I'm telling mentally ill people to heal themselves. I know that's not going to happen.

So I'm stuck realizing that a good portion of the human race is mentally ill and there's nothing I can do about it. People are idiots. What a crappy world this is. I hate that we're all victims of humanity's lowest common denominator: idiots, people who care more about the fanciful lies that make them feel good about themselves than what's actually real. Religious people are self-deceptive liars damned over the rest of humanity. They're as moral as a deadly virus. They are America's cancerous tumor.
You’re a very spiritually sick man, so far from any light or truth that you have become as miserable as the devil himself who has led you to the state you are in right now. Your rants about what should be done with those who choose to believe and exercise faith in God, mirror Adolf Hitler addressing the final solution to the Jewish question. This is not going end well for you, nor will it ever end if you don’t free your mind from Satan’s grasp and look to God, turn yourself around, and start walking back toward the light. Repent and return to your Heavenly Father who still loves you. Stop offending the spirit of the Lord or your destiny is misery and mental anguish both now and in the world you think will never come.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Hey all,

Hope everyone is well. Wanted to share.

A beautiful rendition of Sailing (Original, Christipher Cross) - Brought tears to my eyes.

Austin Brown, Rumer Willis - Sailing
https://youtu.be/fTRPNU76kjw?si=0yZqy1yj4b2PvpDl
As an aside Christopher Cross had this to say about Donald Trump...
Cross is less enamoured of another Donald: he was once offered $1 million to play at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump’s Bond-villain Florida lair. He politely declined.

“I definitely struggled with Donald Trump. I didn’t vote for him. I try not to get too political. I think he’s pretty much destroyed our country,” the singer says. “I don’t wish him any ill will, but I certainly wish he would not be president and that we could try to reset the clock, because every day it’s just getting worse and worse.”
Do you think Cross is wrong in his assessment of Trump's impact on America?
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

I wouldn't worry too much about this guy. He comes here to obviously cover for some deficit in his life. My guess is that it is a lack of intellectual capabilities he sees in himself given how his posts almost always point the finger at how supposedly "dumb" Trump supporters are. Yet he refuses any self-examination on how idiotic and intellectually lacking his "a der republicans are stupid der" posts day after day after day after day are. He should look at how his team blindly covers for team corruption and crimes and how he religiously obeys team dictates. But that is probably too much for a brain to handle.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

One of the most disturbing things about ajax is that he is or claims to be a competent and successful optometrist. I find it hard to understand how anyone supposedly possessing the scientific knowledge required for a licensed optometrist can be so clueless about the firmly established scientific consensus of human caused climate change and environmental degradation. He is even more clueless (or simply doesn't care) about the now unequivocally established fact that Trump and his administration is the most corrupt, immoral and pathologically dishonest administration in the entire history of our nation.

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Exactly! Which is why I abandoned the Republican Party years ago!

You left out the fact that scientific institutions like Lancet have lost most of their respect and public trust for the partisan political pseudoscience they published during the global scamdemic. Fauci was no scientist, just a political partisan.

Contrary to your assertions, there is no general condemnation of Dr. Fauci in Lancet for his efforts to understand and mitigate the Covid pandemic.

Offline: In defense of Dr Fauci
“Is this what we have become? Is this what we have devolved into?” US Congressman Kweisi Mfume was reacting to comments from Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene at a hearing of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, held on June 3, 2024, in Washington, DC. The Subcommittee was taking evidence from Dr Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Greene accused Fauci of presiding over science that was “disgusting and evil”. She questioned Fauci over the royalties received by National Institutes of Health scientists for their research. Fauci had earlier denied receiving any such royalties for his work on COVID-19. He tried to answer Greene, but she kept interrupting him: “I don’t need your answer.” Her colleagues intervened. Surely Greene's style and tone breached the Subcommittee's rules of decorum? She ignored them and fired a new fusillade of abuse: “That man does not deserve to have a [medical] license…He belongs in prison…You’re not Dr, you’re Mr Fauci in my few minutes…He's not respected…Your repulsive evil science…We should be recommending you to be prosecuted…You should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity.” American democracy in action. A star chamber of preening, self-aggrandising politicians issuing offensive performative and partisan attacks against a man who has served his country for decades as a scientist and scientific administrator. The hearing was a spectacle of embarrassment for a country that has proven unable to face up to the lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is mysterious about the attacks on Fauci is the public silence of the scientific community. As one global health leader said to me recently, “why is the international scientific community so quiet” about the mistreatment of scientists and public health officials who sought to save lives as SARS-CoV-2 tore through communities? The answer is self-censorship. As Peter Hotez documents in his book, The Deadly Rise of Anti-Science (2023), some 40% of scientists working on COVID-19 endured virtual or physical attacks. “Many scientists under threat”, he wrote, “began to avoid speaking out in public or to reduce their overall public engagement.” Fauci and other scientists have received credible death threats. Members of Congress have mocked public health guidance and those, including Fauci, who have defended that guidance. The fundamental disagreement is about the idea of freedom in US society. Congressional representatives accused Fauci of fracturing trust in American science and public health institutions by violating the freedoms of US citizens. “The American people hate having their freedoms taken from them”, said Representative Richard McCormick, a physician. Mandates were politically motivated. “Dr Fauci: you have become Dr Fear…Shame on you.” The idea of freedom being threatened by a public health community struggling to understand a new and deadly virus is an interesting proposition to reflect upon. Conservative politicians are saying that the freedom to risk a preventable death is more important than the freedom to live your life through the responsible deployment of public health protections. How twisted our view of freedom has become.

The Chairman of the House Subcommittee that interrogated Fauci is Representative Brad Wenstrup, a doctor of podiatric medicine. He suggested that “Americans do not hate science”, but they do know hypocrisy when they see it—and this was the charge laid before Fauci. Wenstrup alleged that Fauci made or supported policy decisions that lacked scientific evidence. From physical distancing to vaccine mandates, Fauci followed a path of “indoctrination”, not science, Wenstrup alleged. The origins of SARS-CoV-2 were also weaponised against Fauci. Representatives sought to link NIAID research funding to a laboratory leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. Fauci easily answered their clumsy and inept questions. “I keep an open mind as to what the origin is”, he said. He believes that the most likely explanation is a viral spillover from an animal reservoir, but a laboratory leak is possible. Through over 3 hours of evidence, Fauci was calm, dignified, and courteous to even the most insulting of his congressional inquisitors. He reflected the best of science and scientists. Unless our scientific institutions are willing to step up and denounce attacks on those who risk their lives to defend principles of science and public health, the fragile fabric that is our society will begin to unravel. That unravelling is already far advanced in America.
Fauci worked diligently to study the characteristics of the virus and progressively changed his conclusions about it during extensive testing and corrected his original assumptions and recommendations as more evidence accumulated, which is what any good scientist would have done. His efforts contributed to the development and acceptance of the effective vaccine and attempts to treat the afflicted and prevent the spread of the disease. He readily modified his views on masking and isolation as warranted by his improving understanding of the situation. He deserves commendation for his honest efforts to gain and improve the understanding of what was needed and he was commended even by Trump for his efforts.

Like it or not, your last post only further underscored your ignorant, anti-science bigotry. Dr. Fauci is more hero than villain, in my book!
