After reading his statement about home defense and how he spoke about a shotgun, I doubt he's actually ever held a shotgun and there's no way he's shot one because it doesn't matter what gauge or action one is shooting, you don't shoot a shotgun and then say that doesn't kick, especially if you have experience with small arms. He used his supposed 7 years of experience "with" Delta to try to impress us, so he could seem experienced, but he gave the most inexperienced explanation possible!

I stand by it. For an inexperienced firearms user a shotgun is longer, easier to hold, has a longer sight radius, easier to aim, and will 98% neutralize the target. I recommend a bullpup shotgun if it’s legal in your area.

If you want to do cqb a rifle or pistol is great. But , odds are you’ll miss your target because, as Atlantic Mike knows, your nuts will retreat up to your trigger finger and you’ll most likely miss your target.

Oh boy!! This answer is almost as bad as the original one I posted. It proves you no nothing about small arms, Mr. Delta! First, let's point out the obvious, 10 years ago you said a shotgun doesn't need to be aimed, and now you're saying it's easier to aim .

Secondly, out of the three, the shotgun is not the easiest to hold, just the opposite, especially if it's a long barrel shotgun.

Thirdly, now he's talking about cqb like he was an actual operator in delta, but his inexperience is showing because he's still thinking that you'll miss your target with a pistol or rifle, but hit your target with a shotgun! Your inexperience with a shotgun and small arms is totally on display, Mr. Delta, you should stop while you're ahead because if you keep talking out your ass, people are going to start questioning your army experience.

I have bought $1000s of dollars of chokes for $1000s of dollars of shotguns and shot 10s of thousands of rounds out of those shotguns while obsessively researching shot patterns, shot density, pattern diameter and point of aim compared to point of contact. I've studied chokes constriction, which choke throws what pattern at what distance. I've patterned multiple loads from various distances and 100% understand shotgun patterning. I UNDERSTAND THE PATTERN OF A SMOOTHBORE SHOTGUN at close distance, do you?

And so should someone who is using "I served with 1st sfof-delta" for seven years as their experience to discuss small arms in a close quarters combat situation. And an experienced person understands a shotgun in close quarters still needs to be aimed as carefully as an M4 or a handgun. And once again you insinuated that a shotgun in close quarters doesn't need to be aimed like a hand gun or M4. Showing you inexperience in small arms. Good try though, Mr. Delta!

But it's obvious from your posting, you believe a shotgun in close quarters is throwing a huge pattern. In your inexperienced mind, you think from 15' away a smoothbore shotgun is shooting a pattern probably 24" or so, if not more, and the inexperienced believe that because of what they see in movies. That's you! Everything you've written in this exchange from 2016 up till today proves you don't understand small arms.

I have dozens of smoothbore shotguns and from 15' away most will pattern 2.5" to 4". Depending on what you're shooting, it can be more, but aiming a shotgun at close distances is just as crucial as aiming a handgun or M4. You don't believe that!
