I, Shulem, having spent the past few days at Miami Beach Florida and vigorously swimming out into the ocean, perhaps 20 feet deep, I was again reminded of the geography of the Book of Mormon as exclusively taught within the pages of that novel. Never mind what the apologists say because they don't know what they're talking about! They are blinded by the craftiness of the book in thinking it's somehow literally true! You see, apologists work on the basis that the Book of Mormon is historical and make no allowance for Joseph Smith making stuff up as he went along. But nothing could be further from the truth. The Book of Mormon is a spoof and Joseph Smith used the map to invent his story, beginning at Delmarva. Once you begin an earnest approach from the vantage point that the Book of Mormon is a spoof and that Smith was making stuff up using a map at his disposal, then the pieces begin to fall into place. The land of promise begins at Delmarva!
Forget about Panama!
Forget about Mexico!
Forget about Niagara!
Wow, the the wasted time put into trying to make the Book of Mormon fit into those geographical locations is an astounding waste of time. An incredible amount of time has been wasted defending the Book of Mormon from those points of view.
But in reality, sea-WEST, sea-EAST, and sea-SOUTH are are at Delmarva. Remember, the southern most land where Lehi landed is the end of the line in the Book of Mormon. Nobody ever sailed south! Nobody ever marched south of Lehi's original landing!! All roads and all destinations led northward. The southern tip of Delmarva was the end of the line, Lehi's cradle in which civilization went northward from there. That was the tip of the peninsula and for all intents and purposes the southernmost place of Book of Mormon geography.
While swimming out into the open water of Miami Beach, I was reminded that I too was out on the southern end of a peninsula literally swimming about sea-East. Folks, it all fits like a glove. I hope that YOU too can see what Joseph Smith was really up to in visualizing his land of promise based on a map he used. He used a current US MAP just like he used the Bible for his novel. I hope YOU come to realize this. Don't let Smith fool you any longer than he has! Don't be fooled!
The answer really is Delmarva. When will YOU come to realize this and find closure?

Book of Mormon Central
The purpose of this thread is to present the truth as I see it in the theory which I've perceived. I understand Joseph Smith was pulling the wool over everyone's eyes and is the original author of the entire Book of Mormon. Never mind Nephi. Never mind Mormon and the host of so-called ancient authors. The whole story and everything within the book came from the mind of Joseph Smith. I base my understanding on that premise and on the understanding that Smith made it all up -- then everything falls into place as it should. In order to grasp the geography of the Book of Mormon, one must let go of apologetics and let go of the idea that it's a historical record that was translated from gold plates because it's none of that. Look for Smith's geography in the most obvious place (Delmarva) and don't worry about how everything described in the book has to match up seeing Smith was creative and taking license by his own right to grow the story according to his imagination.
A brief look at apologetics is appropriate to this thread but I don't put much energy into their approach or what they say because they lead readers down a garden path and rabbit holes that lead nowhere. Such is Mormon apologetics! It's always about "it could be" and "it's possible" or, ultimately how it's plausible *if* you have faith. Forget about faith! It's faith that poisons one's understanding in locating the true geography of the Book of Mormon because faith requires one let go of the need to have archeological evidence! So long as you believe the Book of Mormon is historical then you will have to rely on faith and NEVER get the archeological proof needed to vindicate Smith's stories. It will never happen. It will always and forever remain as mere faith rooted in a kind of spiritual myth.
Here is a very well done graphic proposed by Apologists who present their image of the geography. You will note that it embraces the concepts that I've presented in this thread and appears very much like Delmarva. BUT, notice something very significant: It refuses to show the southernmost land or that which might be south of Lehi's landing. Why? Well, perhaps because the Book of Mormon makes no mention to anything south of Lehi's landing! It remains a mystery in the mind of the apologists so they leave it as a grey area completely unexplored and incomprehensible. The land south of Lehi's landing is literally cut off and becomes like the end of the world or the edge of an unknown map. They can't go any further because the Book of Mormon doesn't give them license to do so and they know that. I find it incredible that they have not come to terms that Lehi landed on a true peninsula and that there really is NOTHING south of them other than the south sea. Nonetheless, the map below is very well done and an accurate portrait of the land of Nephi being connected to the northern land via the narrow neck which takes only a day and a half for a man to traverse.

South Sea is here as the land of Nephi is nearly surrounded by water

Official Church Statement
Book of Mormon Geography
The distance of the narrow neck of land leading from point (A) to traverse across the narrow neck to point (B) is said to be a day and a half's journey according to man's ability to traverse the land:
"And now, it was only the distance of a day and a half’s journey for a Nephite, on the line Bountiful and the land Desolation, from the east to the west sea; and thus the land of Nephi and the land of Zarahemla were nearly surrounded by water, there being a small neck of land between the land northward and the land southward."
The four cardinal directions in the Book of Mormon are fundamental in understanding the position of this land as it relates to a map or on the very globe in which it is located. North means north. South means South. West means west. East means east. However, when the cardinal direction is not exact or more precisely leading in one direction it may be said:
"And it came to pass that we traveled for the space of four days, nearly a south-southeast direction, and we did pitch our tents again; and we did call the name of the place Shazer."
We know the author of the Book of Mormon worked with the cardinal directions in a consistent manner as the sun rises in the east, sets in the west, and the polar north star is always or ever a constant. Everyone will agree that Cumorah is "NORTH" of the land of Nephi. And if Cumorah is north of the land of Nephi then that also means that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west just as it always has and always will.
We should expect the Church to respect the distances and directions mentioned in the Book of Mormon to reflect an accurate intention given by the author. Any deviation from the intended meaning provided in the book to suit another purpose in an attempt to match a geography that does not fit with these fundamental principles are unwarranted and unjustified.

Re: Official Church Statement
Book of Mormon Geography
We are to understand that the general membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is divided on this subject and there is no clear consensus or direction given by leadership today on deciding this issue once and for all. Today's leadership refuses to answer the question. They couch the answer in the idea excuse that the Lord himself has refused to reveal the answer! Although the church remains bitterly divided about Book of Mormon Geography, the leaders today seemingly refuse to enquire of the Lord to solve the problem and provide means for all the members to unite under a single banner of truth. There are many so-called truths had in today's Mormonism regarding Book of Mormon geography. A house divided cannot stand! Today's leaders will need to step up to the plate and assume the mantle of being a prophet and reveal the truth through direct revelation or the Church will continue in a state of division being deprived of an answer from God.
We are also to understand that today's leaders have thrown yesterday's leaders under the bus. In Mormonism, all that really matters is what leaders today happen to say. Yesterday is up in the air. Tomorrow is yet to come. Everything is in flux. The Church remains divided and apologists are nearly at war. Joseph Smith went to God and asked which of the churches are true. Why can't the prophet go to God and ask which geography is true? Is President Nelson a lazy learner?

Re: Multiple Choice Book of Mormon Narrow Neck Test
Could we not suggest Joseph Smith did give a key location by identifying the hill from which he took the plates as Cumorah?Shulem wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 3:09 amShulem wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 2:38 am
So ask yourself this one question: At the time or prior to (or at least thereafter) when Smith dictated the concept of a narrow neck, did he have a clear understanding or a preconceived idea of the geographical location on a map for that narrow neck of land?
[ ] YES
[ ] NO
If you answer [YES] then you are left to ponder and choose for yourself exactly where did Smith have in mind seeing that he never told anyone during his entire ministry. He kept it a secret. He never told the church where the KEY location for the Book of Mormon was located. Why would he neglect to reveal to the church the location of the Book of Mormon? Could it be that maybe they might try and verify his words? Could it be that the critics who had the missing 116 pages begin to question him further and demand proof that such things existed?
It's quite clear that Smith kept his mouth shut for a very good reason. Oh, it's true that there was talk later on about the Book of Mormon spanning the entire hemisphere and that God moved in mysterious ways but in general, Smith kept a tight lip on the subject although he was open to expansion so long as it was faith promoting, moreover on anything that might provide evidence to verify Book of Mormon claims such as ruins in Central America which Smith did wholeheartedly embrace late in his ministry.
But Smith never revealed to the church where the narrow neck of land was located on the map.

We can certainly suggest that Smith gave a *key* location identifying the hill from which he claimed to uncover the plates as Cumorah in New York State. That, my friend, is a done deal and is set in everlasting stone. But the key location for the narrow neck located down south was never revealed or discussed by Smith. He kept that a secret. But, you should know, the hill Cumorah in New York is not the *grand key* location of the Book of Mormon. The narrow neck of land is the keystone to the Book of Mormon and it's the doorway in which the southern lands of Nephi provide passage into "Desolation" and the land of the north where the Jaredites lived. It's the key to the door! If you nail that down then you can solve the puzzle. That is what this thread is all about. I'm solving the puzzle and I have more cards to show in doing that. Interested?
I'm glad you've noticed this thread. Everyone must get their mind out of the Mesoamerica gutter which apologists have invented to entrap thinkers like you and me. The apologists have ensnared themselves in their own trap and fallen in the pit which they have dug. It's astounding to say the least! They are unable to demonstrate that their models work and make any sense at all. They live in that fairytale simply because they are hiding from the fact that there is no real evidence to prove the Book of Mormon true and they know that. So they keep it in a place where no evidence keeps them in a safe zone. But I'm here to change all that. And I will, trust me. Never mind the Book of Abraham! It's the Book of Mormon that is the keystone of Mormonism and remove that stone and the whole thing comes crashing down. And, I'm going to remove it. So help me God!

Re: Shulem Cracked the Book of Mormon Code, the Land of Nephi is now revealed! See for yourself!
Paul, you are making a valuable thread here. Basically I see the creation of the Book of Mormon the same way you do. You early on pointed out that Joseph was creating the stories years before he started the official dictation. You added the further point that his family found religious significance there. Joseph' religious concerns did not suddenly happen but were growing toward the Book of Mormon. It is fairly clear that apologetic questions like how could he write this without a college education or how did he come up with so much material in such a short time are misleading and empty.
I have heard an apologetic observation that the book through an array of complications movements and people manages a fairly coherent geographic relationship of parts.(how could he have done that?) You have pointed out the basic method, a map, and pointed to a well fitting candidate. It has been a long long time since I read the Book of Mormon. I have not pursued a study of its implied geography. I appreciate your effort and have learned a bit. I have in my memory a vague puzzlement about whats with the land south of the Book of Mormon lands. If you are correct that the Book of Mormon clearly indicates arrival at the south end of the land and no travel south then that is very telling evidence for your theory.
