Ex-Mormons seem to me to lean more left than right. Most were probably raised right-wing, and when they left Mormonism they also associated right-wing politics with the Church and aligned with the left.
It doesn't surprise me, and it doesn't bother me. I can listen to Lem's thoughts and I can respectfully disagree. I disagree often with Lem but when we're both civil we can actually have a discussion.

That pretty well sums it up. And yes, it has a place. But, just going on human nature, it will bleed into all areas of the board as long as the rules as stated are not enforced. And by enforcing, I mean moving posts around follows by sanctions if the behavior persists. That's C's posts, AM's posts, Doc's posts, Schmo's posts, your posts and my posts. Failure to enforce rules leads to disrespect of rules leads to disregard of rules. See, e.g., every internet forum ever.
