An anecdote today out of Florida -

In just two weeks, six members of a Florida church died from Covid-19. All were unvaccinated, their pastor said.
Now the church is hosting a vaccination clinic.

Pastor George Davis at Impact Church in Jacksonville addressed members during Sunday's service and said the past week had been very difficult.

"We've had now six members of our church over the course of a couple weeks now that have passed away from Covid," said Davis during the service that was livestreamed on the church's Facebook page. "It has just absolutely ripped our hearts apart. The most recent one was actually a young lady on our worship team."

Davis told CNN affiliate WJXT on Friday that four of the deaths were members under the age of 35 and that they were all healthy -- but that none of them were vaccinated.

"It's pain," Davis told WJXT. "These are actual people that I know, that I have pastored. One 24-year-old kid, I've known him since he was a toddler."

He added that 15-20 church members were in the hospital battling Covid and around 10 members were at home with the virus. Davis told WJXT that he is certain the members didn't contract the virus at the church.

The church hosted a free vaccination clinic on Sunday for anyone who wanted to get the Coivd-19 vaccine.

As someone who has been a long time fan of Gad and a recent but ever-growing fan of Cultellus, I must say, I look forward to reading much more of these kinds of contributions.

Also, I was wondering if Cultess, the "Rabid troll who came to destroy the entire community - who never posts any substance" label should be taken off. Or at least remove the cement and reapply the label with a paper clip?)

I don’t form or change my opinions about a poster based on a single post. Certainly C has the ability to post in a non-trolling fashion. I haven’t seen enough to revise my opinion.

Oh no, I totally get it. I didn't read anything you say as minimizing the harm from the fires as opposed to the smoke.

Okay good. I just know some of our posters are closer to the West Coast fires than I am. I don't want them to think I would disrespect the situation they're likely dealing with. I hope one of them will catch this and give us a report.

You’re good-it’s obvious no disrespect is intended! The harm from fires and the harm from smoke are both spreading, sadly.

I’m not out there, but I just had a family return from visiting family in Oregon. The bootleg fire, combined with the severe drought is still wreaking havoc. The family member in Oregon works for a large animal clinic, they are on call for all of the animals being evacuated from other areas. It is an extremely stressful situation.

We’ve been more or less apartment—bound because of the AQI. We intended to do a day hike every day while waiting for our reno to wrap up, but that’s been put on hold until the smoke clears out. Neither one of us are very enthusiastic about walking around in an environment where visibility is at about 1/4-1/2 mile because of particulates. Perhaps when it dips below 70 again we’ll get out there again, otherwise we’ll stick to the gym when we feel the need to get some exercise.

It’s the worst. It’s akin to smoking a pack of cigarettes. I sometimes think about the section and through hikers on the PCT and I don’t know how they’re going to do it. Large sections of the trail are either closed or diverted. I can’t imagine trying to get through northern CA and OR right now.

I miss hiking on the PCT and around Lake Tahoe/Truckee. When I lived in Reno, we'd hike and camp all over that area. There was a cool little lake we'd go to near Sugar Bowl for day hikes and would camp there periodically.
