Fair enough. It's true that probably no one in Terrestrial has the time to research if you or Lem are correct here.

Perhaps at some point Shades will step in and appoint some moderators, perhaps not. If he does I just hope they are unbiased and don't have a dog in this fight.
Ceeboo's most recent method of disagreeing with a woman has been to explain that sexist comments are acceptable if they are directed toward only the one woman whom one dislikes (me), so i don't think his assessment of my thread as being "jammed down your throat" is particularly meaningful. He has a problem with me, and its showing up here.

I remember when reading posts by Grindael just how little I knew about the ‘unspoken’ parts of Mormonism the “church” isn’t interested in teaching and doesn’t find “useful.” For example, Grindael posted this bit about Joseph Smith that exposed what kind of character we were dealing with, in terms of the spiritual tradition we inherited:
“In the month of June, 1827, Joseph Smith, Sen. related to me the following story:

‘That some years ago, a spirit had appeared to Joseph his son, in a vision, and informed him that in a certain place there was a record on plates of gold, and that he was the person that must obtain them, and this he must do in the following manner:

On the 22nd of September, he must repair to the place where was deposited this manuscript, dressed in black clothes, and riding a black horse with a switch tail, and demand the book in a certain name, and after obtaining it, he must go directly away, and neither lay it down nor look behind him. Wut.

They accordingly fitted out Joseph with the suit of black clothes, and borrowed a black horse. He repaired to the place of deposit and demanded the book, Wut. which was in a stone box, unsealed, and so near the top of the ground that he could see one end of it, and raising it up, Wut. took out the book of gold; but fearing some one might discover where he got it, he laid it down to place back the top stone, as he found it; and turning around, to his surprise there was no book in sight. Wut. He again opened the box, and in it saw the book, and attempted to take it out, but was hindered. Wut. He saw in the box something like toad, Wut. which soon assumed the appearance of a man, Wut. and struck him on the side of his head. Wut.– Not being discouraged at trifles, he again stooped down and strove to take the book, when the spirit struck him again, and knocked him three or four rods, Wut. and hurt him prodigiously. After recovering from his fright, he inquired why he could not obtain the plates; to which the spirit made reply, because you have not obeyed your orders. Sigh.

“… In the fore part of September, (I believe,) 1827, the Prophet [Joseph Smith] requested me to make him a chest, informing me that he designed to move back to Pennsylvania, and expecting soon to get his gold book, he wanted a chest to lock it up, giving me to understand at the same time, that if I would make the chest he would give me a share in the book. Wut.

“A few weeks after this conversation, he came to my house and related the following story:

That on the 22nd of September, he arose early in the morning, and took a one horse wagon, of someone that had stayed over night at their house, without leave or license; and, together with his wife, repaired to the hill which contained the book. He left his wife in the wagon, by the road, and went alone to the hill, a distance of thirty or forty rods from the road; he said he took the book out of the ground and hid it in a tree top, Wut. and returned home. …

He then observed that if it had not been for that stone [Joseph's money-digging seer stone], (which he acknowledged belonged to me,) he would not have obtained the book. A few days afterwards, he told one of my neighbors that he had not got any such book, nor never had such an one; but that he had told the story to deceive the d—d fool, (meaning me,) to get him to make a chest. His neighbors having become disgusted with his foolish stories, he determined to go back to Pennsylvania, to avoid what he called persecution.

His wits were now put to the task to contrive how he should get money to bear his expenses. He met one day in the streets of Palmyra, a rich man, whose name was Martin Harris, and addressed him thus; ‘I have a commandment from God to ask the first man I meet in the street to give me fifty dollars, to assist me in doing the work of the Lord by translating the Golden Bible.’ Martin being naturally a credulous man, hands Joseph the money.” – WIllard Chase, 1833
It was posts like the above that opened my eyes to the lengths the “church” has gone to whitewash its history. Virtually every time Grindael posted something it became a learning opportunity for me. And for that, I’m forever grateful to him - an autodidact and Mormon scholar.

Really??? Here's what I don't understand! If you go back and read older post in spirit paradise, you'll see a constant barrage of name calling toward subgenius and Ajax18. Doc cam, schmo and Icarus would team up and constantly call those two conservatives all kinds of names including Nazi, mushroom dick, idiot and so on. Look man, I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I'm not stupid enough to go down that path. Ajax and subgenius would post all kinds of information and links to back up what they believe to only get called names constantly. I decided to use a different strategy. Like I said, I had posters contact me to say I was going to be attacked after my "newness" wore off. I don't even want to talk about politics, I have no desire. That's why I post videos, i hate politics. I want to talk about Mormonism and more personal stuff.
If you read the older posts from the broken board you'd see clear evidence of Cam, Schmo, and Icarus going at each other in the exact same way. You'd likewise see Lem and I going at one or more of those posters, including going at each other. There's not a poster in the Paradise Forum who has ever been shy about independently stating their opinions, their positions or leveling criticism as they saw fit. There's not a long running poster on this board who hasn't alternately harshly criticized and sincerely praised Shades as they saw fit.

You think that what you see in the moment is an indication of the posting history of the posters on this board (and might I add their political affiliation) some of whom whose experience with each other goes back more than two decades.

You don't know where you are.
You don't know what you're doing.
Your dichotomous thinking is bound to be your own undoing.

Instead of behaving like a reactive toddler whose attention span lasts less than a minute in duration, you should have asked questions of the posters in the other forum. You should have asked them why they commented in a certain way. You should have asked them about their political leanings. You and C should have done any number of things before taking it upon yourselves to swoop in like savior wannabes and actively troll-spam an entire forum of people engaged in continuing dialogue with each other.

And in addition to all of the above, you could have used the report feature to report the posts that you thought violated the rules that are in place or created a new thread for the express purpose of calling out what you see as poor behavior instead of mucking up existing threads.

As it stands, you and C did none of those things. The key to all of your woes is: make inquiry, call people out in a new topic thread in the appropriate forum, and/or turn in reports as you yourself see fit.

Oh, and get down off your cross. That might help, too.
Awesome!!! Well, lucky for you guys lem called me up here so now I get to enjoy living in the terrestrial 😁. Thanks Lem!! Tell ya the truth, being in the terrestrial is a lot higher kingdom than what I thought I would end up in. Growing up my mom would always say, ""you're going straight to hell you little son of a bxxch!"" 😂 So you see, being here is way higher than I thought I would ever achieve in the after life. Yay for me!!!!

Ceeboo is butthurt because he’s a Christian who used to proselytize on the old board and had his ass handed to him repeatedly, so he gave that up for posting gifs of babies and, I dunno, small animals. He’s also a Conservative, and you can imagine how that went. So, more baby gifs and small animals. Ceeboo breezes into the forum NEVER TO DISCUSS. He comes here to bellyache, wear a mask of kindness, and, like MG, say a bunch of crappy nonsense to DERAIL DISCUSSION. He’s MG minus the Mormon.

Truth.

I am totally good with that.

ANYWAY.

AGAIN.

Circling back around to the topic …

If anyone is curious about the impact Grindael had on the topic of Mormonism outside of the old board look at this Patheos article:

https://www.patheos.com/blogs/faithprom ... y-part-ii/

The Anthon Transcript: Fulfillment of Prophecy, Reformed Egyptian, and the Evolution of a Story, Part II

An excerpt:
Recent research on the Community of Christ document has shed considerable light on its origin and background. We now know that the document is not the transcript taken to Professor Anthon by Harris, but is a later copy of Book of Mormon characters made by either Christian or John Whitmer. Based on a photo discovered by Johnny Stephenson in the Clay County Museum the document is actually a fragment of what had been a larger document containing a line from the Joseph Smith translation of Genesis.
An incredibly in depth and well-written article that used four, FOUR!, references to Grindael’s research. I really recommend folks conduct a google search:

And poke around a bit. It’s turning up some real gems.

Is anyone buying this act that is going on about the memory of Grindael?

Curious.

I need a tissue.
It is pretty odd. Will we get another 30 pages of actual tribute?
