Gadianton should not be a moderator for any forum under any circumstances. It would be a massive mistake to put him in charge of the Terrestrial or Spiritual Paradise forums. He is an agitator down there and uses Doc Cam as a bully enforcer.

I agree with ceeboo. This is an issue with the infrastructure of the whole house and not just the basement. When the homosexual insults are used with such disdain as they are used by Doc Cam, and there is NO resistance other than Atlanticmike reposting the vile and insulting comments the problem is not isolated. Doc Cam openly threatens to crap on every post made by a single poster and for the most part, everyone is cool with that, including Gadianton. Doc Cam regularly posts his memes and pictures from his 4Chan and so-called deep internet interests and groups. They have included things as vile as a woman being called a *igress and being shot in the head. And yet, Lem and Jersey find that to be not-trolling and anyone having issues with it is trolling. Gadianton appears wholly onboard with these positions and would like to shut down Atlanticmike while hosting more of this racist, bigoted and homosexist bullying harm.

So, in short. I voted for more moderation based on Shades' clarification in this thread.

I am advocating against giving any control whatsoever to Gadianton, Lem, Jersey, Doc Cam or their complicit crew - based on their history AND based on their declared conviction to their collective bias.

I went with the flow and voted for additional moderation. It might prove helpful and keep things in check. It might even be an incentive for others to actually join the board and add to the discussions.

I just hope that new moderator(s) will give ole Shulem an occasionally wink and a pass. Extra privileges for me!

NO, Atlanticmike, posts like that will NOT be allowed to remain in the Spirit Paradise forum. YES, Atlanticmike, posts like that WILL be moderated, most likely by moving them to the Spirit Prison forum.

Why not just delete them?

My stop-gap proposal:

As people have noted SP has its own unique culture which gets out of hand. Terrestrial self-regulates pretty well so why weigh it down with mods?
A one-size solution for the two forums isn't desirable.

At the same time, we shouldn't let the worst elements of Spirit Paradise infect Terrestrial. I propose that for the interim, Shades allow me to delete any Atlanticmike post in Terrestrial forum that uses crude language or is a direct personal attack. And at my discretion if that's too much work, block his posting in other forums aside from SP entirely.

I've read all the current posts here. I have additional comments. The issue is NOT trolling per se. Please read what I have to say so you can hopefully see more clearly what and why we are voting on restoring a mod team.

1. Before the previous board went down there was no moderation happening at all. One regular poster (whose SN is known to all) repeatedly doxxed another regular poster (whose SN is known to all) in the Paradise Forum. Neither of the two posters in question were the trolls you see posting on this thread. Reports were turned in repeatedly and left with no response or mod action. Shades eventually posted that the admin/mod panel was broken so that is why no moderation action took place and no response to reports.

2. Right this very second, any poster could hypothetically post in real life about another poster here and your in real life would sit here exposed to board participants and lurkers for days on end, because Shades cannot be here right now. He is busy managing his own in real life. It was all he could do to get up a few posts here yesterday.

3. This board isn't two separate cultures. Virtually every poster who regularly posts in Paradise started out in Terrestrial, got tired of LDS related topics (myself included) or simply had an additional interest in politics and other topics. What is going on in the Paradise Forum is the result of a long term lack of moderation.

4. There have been calls from the community for moderation going back to the death throws of the now broken board. There have been calls on THIS new board going back to December 2020 because there is only Shades. The re-posting of Cam's inappropriate posts that have been transferred here were part of an if/when pledge he made to Shades. You can find that if/when, at the bottom of page 6 on the Vaccines and Therapeutics thread in Paradise. A thread that I carried over from the now broken board to this board because it, like other topics, was a topic that we maintained and carried over to this board to continue. It's now derailed to the tune of 100 pages or more.

5. The issue isn't trolling. The issue is derailing topical threads. The two posters in question, Atlanticmike and Cultellus, have made increasingly strong attempts to derail the Paradise Forum to the tune of two thousand posts. Reports have gone without response and without mod action.

The two posters are showing you exactly what they have done to Paradise by doing it on this very thread.

Gad I trust you implicitly to do what as you see fit here. If I were Shades I would have handed you the mod keys months ago so long as you are willing. I have seen your style of moderation on another board and I fully endorse you as moderator if only in the interim to getting up a new team of mods here.

If you do take over the keys, I have reported the Vaccines and Therapeutics thread and would like that moved to Prison as one of the first actions that you take.

No posts should be deleted on this forum, Gad. They simply need to be relocated to the appropriate forum and left to stand as is. You could split or move, whatever is your choice. You could pull damaged threads into the Mod Forum to work on splits if need be and put the two offending posters on the queue until the work is done and go forward from there.

But the board cannot go forward without a mod team because what has happened to Paradise can easily happen to Terrestrial and it already has in the past. A troll could come in here right now and rip the place apart from Celestial right on down to Prison including porn spamming the entire board.

Counselor, you would be worse than Gadianton, by a lot. Laugh away. Your Socratic act is cute and all. Congratulations on that. You were never going to take a stand for anything other than to suggest that the judge/Shades do something for you. You and Gadianton had that in common. You were both perfectly content, and even gleeful, to see Doc Cam posting the things that Atlanticmike has been highlighting. And yet, all you had do say about it was that Shades should do something and that Atlanticmike was the troll. Yeah, hysterical.

Gadianton and you should be kept far away from the controls. VERY FAR. You both lack the guts to do hard things.

I've explained this to you half a dozen times. I understand why you resent my "Socratic act," because, when I took you step by step through one of your claims, you admitted that you were 100% wrong about why I wanted the board moderated. You couldn't stand the fact that you had to admit that what I wanted from moderation was exactly what Shades described in his clarification: even-handed moderation applied to everyone. Apparently, that was so painful to you that you had to make up a bunch of lies about me to make yourself feel better.

I am 100% against self-help when people break the rules here. It NEVER improves the situation. It ALWAYS makes it worse. The only way to address the problems you describe without turning the board into a wasteland is to have someone with moderator privileges who can enforce the rules. Period. Your demand that I engage in pure virtue signaling that will escalate conflict rather than resolve it is silly. You have no moral or other standing to demand that I run around the board condemning speech that you object to. You cannot shame or bully me into engaging in behavior that will only make the problems here worse.

I don't recall saying that Atlantic Mike is "the troll." I might have slipped, but I try not to label people as "trolls." I see trolling as an activity that lots of people participate in to various degrees. Mike trolls. You troll. Canpakes trolls. Doc trolls. Lem trolls. Jersey trolls. I troll. There is no specific anti-trolling rule here. There are several rules that place limits on trolling, however. If you troll by personal attack, your post will get moved from Paradise to Prison. If the troll is an attempt to derail the thread, it will be moved to its own thread. And if you spam the board with trolling posts, they will be moved to outer darkness. That's how moderation works.

As for your claim that I am "gleeful" about any of Doc's posts, kindly put up or shut up. I know you can't put up, because it's a lie.

You have yet to acknowledge that Cam made a pledge to Shades and that fact has been brought to your attention on at least 3 occasions. You are using Cam's pledge as an excuse to damage this board and derail topical threads.
