Again, how is it the responsibility or ability of other posters to force a board member to ‘not troll’ or namecall?

Maybe react to them as they did to subgenius and his own attempts to troll and namecall, as example? Except, that made you troll and spam.

You have yet to acknowledge that Cam made a pledge to Shades and that fact has been brought to your attention on at least 3 occasions. You are using Cam's pledge as an excuse to damage this board and derail topical threads.

I understand what Doc posted to mean: I'll keep breaking your rules until you meet my demand. I would not describe that as a "pledge." Neither would I consider it a mitigating factor with respect to the broken rules. During the period when moderation was absent, we all chose how to post and should take responsibility for that choice.

During a period when moderation was absent as it is right this very second. Nothing has changed in that regard. It's still status quo. One moderator not moderating, and who clearly cannot moderate at the current time.

In short, you believe that pushing back against the bigotry that Doc Cam shows and hurls on others is beyond you and for you to address it in any other way would make the board worse. Your approach is to apply some cranky socratic BS on someone like me but to turn in a complaint form to the moderators where there is real insults, bigotry and bullying.

1. You showed up and started spamming multiple threads with no mention or focus on bigotry, or hatred, or anything else other than - as you put it - trying to ‘destroy the board’.

2. Your ‘after the fact’ rationalization for your behavior was to latch on to this excuse about what other folks may have done months earlier, and out of context of any example.

3. Your ‘solution’ is a prop designed to allow you to spam and engage in trolling behavior because you know that your solution is worthless, and it’s claimed results beyond the scope of individual participants other than the alleged troll.

You solution was already tested when I asked you to stop spamming and trolling, because - as you assert - my wish for and statement to you to do so would be entirely sufficient to make you stop spamming and engaging in trolling behavior. (insert simultaneous wink and eye roll, lol).

There is no specific anti-trolling rule here. There are several rules that place limits on trolling, however. If you troll by personal attack, your post will get moved from Paradise to Prison. This is a good point. Trolling has a lot of casual and also several specific definitions. Most of the trolling articles I have posted quotes from agree, in general, that trolling is repeated behavior engaged in with the specific intent to maliciously disrupt a community.

For purposes of this moderation discussion, RI’s explanation of trolling by 1-personal attack, by 2-derailments, or by 3-spamming covers the trolling definitions quite well. Breaking rule 2 may not always be maliciously done, but it’s not hard to see when it is.

I voted for more moderation but I do not want it to be you, Lem, Gadianton or Res Ipsa. If Doc Cam becomes the moderator, I am actually fine with that. I will continue to delete my posts because Doc Cam being a moderator or having his lieutenant in the role is a real possibility. I would rather have Doc Cam moderate the board because at least it would be authentic and bigoted. My interest in having a non-bigot moderate the board is the hope that the board would continue for another decade.

As to your deleted posts. You have deleted your posts here? No, you have modified upwards of over 900 posts. As I told you before, you have left behind you at least 900 instances of modified posts that warrant a determination by a moderator as to whether or not to let them stand, move them, or delete them entirely.

While you continue you try to cover your tracks, you are leaving a egregious mess for some other human being to potentially clean up behind you.

I said nothing about deleting your profanity in Paradise, that's up to Shades or the group decision, or whatever it is, for how to moderate a forum that I think is very difficult to moderate. See that? Your personal insults are the crudest that discussMormonism has ever had; way, way beyond anything from Cam. Cam is a Saint compared to you. But, notwithstanding, I'm saying you should be allowed to carry on as you have been in Paradise.
