That's not what your prophets say.
Morley, methinks that you’re looking for any reason to not think for yourself.
If I were, I'd join the Church.

You're right. Why didn't I think of that? Totally natural law and not at all magical. Thank you for explaining.
Well, I will admit, it’s something that is difficult to wrap our minds around from where we sit. In that sense, magical. But if we could see through the eyes and mind of God we might think otherwise.

You seem to be rather limited in your views of what is possible.

Regards,
MG
Gymnast, you're confused. You maintain that God only works through natural means. I don't. I think that he's as magical as unicorns, talking donkeys, and 969-year-old men.

I just placed a hold for Children of Men. Thanks for the recommendation!

Note: I watched the movie a few times, so this’ll be a nice opportunity to understand the material from the author’s pov.
My pleasure! Hope you enjoy it. That is an excellent movie. It is one of the few movies where I think the production did a very, very good job interpreting the book and capturing its spirit.
I just started reading the book today. The writing is extraordinary.

Professor Lem,

Excellent recommendation. I’m reading it now and it’s highly enjoyable.

Professor Lem,

Sorry to bother, but do you have any other recommendations? I loved reading Children of Men. I watched the movie for the first time over the weekend. It was very good, but didn't do the book justice.

I think the Twilight series would be good for someone of your abilities.

Dude, you actually read the entire Twilight series? Good Lord!

You probably saw all the movies in the theater by yourself?

No I didn't. Perhaps I should admit to reading Gerald Lund's stuff.

I think I may have been through all of the Twilight movies on video, due to having one child in the target demographic and, what was more decisive, a younger child who had to see the same movies. The movies were interesting. I didn't feel the need to read the books.

Some kind of confluence of the various books and movies that my older daughter was absorbing at that time made me formulate a checklist for Young Adult fictional characters: "You might be a vampire if ...". It was a list of 10 yes-or-no questions, with each question offering an additional bonus point for a particular way of being Yes. I think it ended by saying that if your score was 16 or more you were definitely a vampire. "Vampire" was a symbol for broader category. I don't remember all of the questions in my list but one was about having a cool vehicle, one was about your musical talent—with the bonus point being for piano virtuosity in particular—and one was about transcending good and evil.

I was a little creeped out at the time by what seemed like a rather narrow set of tropes being aimed so often at young female teens. Twilight was the paradigm but a lot of stuff seemed somehow similar.
I was a teenager before it was cool.
