So, OF COURSE, within less than a week of getting the shot, someone in my house has tested positive for COVID. It’s my understanding the vaccine is just north of 50% effective after two weeks, so I’m not sure how prepared my immune system is for this. Fortunately, no symptoms yet!

As far as side effects from the vaccine go, my arm has soreness, a bit like I remember from tetanus shots when I was a kid. Nothing else to report so far.
Wow. Stay safe. Hope you come out well.

Isolate yourself from them, put your mask on indoors, take meals to your room or wherever else you can, wash your hands, keep your fingers out of the holes in your head.

Load yourself up with Vitamin D3, C, and my doc told me to take zinc--which I haven't taken zinc. I take 5,000IU's of D3 and have done so for years. It's part of the therapy for Covid. You can bang in 50,000IU's of D3 to boost your system. I wouldn't do that on a regular basis, but you can sure do it at least one time. If you want to do that and feel skeevy about it, give a call to your doc or nurse's hotline. If I am not mistaken you can get 50,000IU's in a shot...it's done for other purposes that I know about. Haven't done it personally, no need, but I know D3 loading like that is done for sure.

Do you take a BP medication like Lisinopril or Lorsartan? Those are thought to be protective.

Just do the recommended dose on the label if you want to. Like I said, I do 5,000IU's and have done that for probably...6 years now. No worries about toxic levels with that.

If you want to bang in 50K one time, I think you can easily do that but you might want to check with your doc/nurse who knows your health history and who has your lab work right in front of them. The D3 therapy they are doing in the hospitals for Covid cases starts with 100K IU's. I think that's IV delivered.

If I could only choose one of those supplements, I'd probably do the D3 based on knowing that the doc's are doing D3 loading for Covid patients. But they are also doing Zinc. I think I'd call those the top 2.

Vitamin C is good and I suppose B12 could help as well, possibly a shot for B12.

But yes, the social precautions and D3 and Zinc...that's probably the best you can do for yourself. Let us know how you get on!

Heads up.

So a lot of things happened this afternoon. First, the Fed Government announced that it is ready to pull the lid off the first round of vaccines and get what they have, administered. Our governor, followed with a statement that he will make an announcement about this on Friday with our instructions for the state. At some point, I called my provider to ask if they have vaccine. No. The person gave me instructions on how to go online and sign up using whatever networks. I signed up on 2 networks on her advice. Apparently they either send you email, patient portal messages, and/or texts for when it's your turn. The sign up function gives you choices about how to be notified.

So...I would highly recommend that any of you guys who are interested in receiving the vaccine get online and figure out how to sign up. It doesn't matter what group you are in--1a, 1b or 1c. You can just sign up so you can be called for your vax when it's your turn going by your particular group. Note: That doesn't mean anyone jumps the line. It just means you are signed up to be notified when it's your turn.

Just do it.

Another heads up. This is my state. I'm assuming other states are soon to follow and it's likely that the CDC or whatever agency, approved this. In our state, veterinarians, chiropractors, dentists and others (?) are going to be able to administer vaccinations. Basically, folks who are qualified to poke the arm. I will try to dig up a link. I just wanted to get this "out there" so folks could poke around in their own state's status on this.

Not sure about CNA's, CVT's or other dental staff. I'll get something up here soon. Until then, consider this hearsay.

I did hear about vets and dentists being used to administer vaccine a month or more ago.

ETA: I can find nothing official on this. People, I swear. If I do locate something, I'll post it.

In other news...300 doses were wasted in Pueblo, CO, due to the malfunction of a storage unit.

Pueblo, I swear.

Somewhere on this thread, we discussed the Shingles vaccine, side effects and the importance of getting the booster. I am getting my booster tomorrow (actually today since it's already Thursday). In my reading this afternoon, I learned that people are cautioned that in order to get the Covid vaccine, you cannot have any other vaccinations less than 14 days prior to doing so.

So folks, keep that in mind if you are signed up to receive the Covid vaccine and if you need a booster or other type immunization, be sure to get that done and out of the way.

FYI: I might be posting from a state of delusion over the next few days or not at all since I have a kind of over the top reaction to this vaccine. I don't think you'll be able to distinguish between delusion and my normal posting style or lack thereof. ; - )
