Sister Mary Lisa wrote:It'd be helpful if the prophet could come up with some revelation that works for ALL people, and not just a select minority who fit the "ideal." I find the Proclamation a harmful tool in making people feel discouraged about themselves and look down on others, and it leads people to pass by chances for real happiness as they seek only the "ideal" for themselves according to what they think God wants for them.
If your "ideal" are those who believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all that comes with it then they're the people he's talking to. I wouldn't hold my breath on waiting for the Prophet to give counsel specifically to those who ignore his counsel. I'll expect that on the day he starts giving specialized counsel for homosexual relationships and on how to safely maintain a moderate drug habit.
If you find the counsel of the Prophets unworkable or are sure that you are the exception then you need to turn to God to get your own counsel. If you're not in a spiritual place where you can get that counsel then you need to get there.
