I think that one of the reasons that Powell endorsed Obama is that he does not want his legacy linked to the Bush administration.
Too late. He was after all Sec of State for Bush for four years.
There were mistakes made there. Bush did not follow Powell's counsel on some issues regarding the war, and I think that has a bearing on his decision.
Examples?
I also think that Powell's endorsement of Obama does not take away from Powell's respect for McCain. He stated that this was a very difficult choice, given the 25 year friendship he has with McCain.
I am sure this helps McCain feel just jolly about now.
I don't think that there is any dispute that McCain knows the battlefield, and has a better knowledge of war tactics than probably any U.S. Presidential candidate we have had.
Are you sure? I think Dwight Eisenhower was pretty astute about such things. Or do you mean current presidential candidates?
However, a President needs to have a certain amount of charisma in order to effectively influence those he is trying to lead. Obama has that. Reagan had it. Kennedy had it.
Charisma ain't gonno get Barak too far when the poop hits the fan.
Like it or not the American people are craving this type of leadership.
And, Powell's point is that he has met with Obama, and has a feel with who Obama will surround himself with in order to lead an effective war.
Whoopie!
The economy is a mess. Obama's economic plans make sense.
No they don't. Not at all. What makes sense about them? Rescue mortgages that have gone bad (McCain proposes this stupid idea as well) increase taxes, continue to increase the money supply which will lead to rampant inflation????? There is little that makes sense about Obamas plans. Course the same could be said about McCain save his plans to keep tax rates low.
I also support his stance on education funding, and his healthcare plan
I don't at least not on health care.
