Not so. To be LDS requires that you accept the understanding of God and Jesus as detailed by Joseph Smith.
As a starting point, yes. However, this does not elevate Joseph to the status of God no matter hom much you think it does.
Remember, God and Jesus told Joseph that all other sect were wrong and their creeds were abominations. Therefore any worship of God and/or Jesus outside of the LDS theology is, according to LDS doctrine, incorrect.
To one level or another, yes. However, I would argue that no one truly understands the nature of God so I believe we all worship him incorrectly in some way. I know I've made great strides but have a long way to go.
Do the missionaries ask investigators to pray about the Bible first? No.
Not sure how this matters.
Do they ask investigators to receive a witness of Jesus or God first? No.
Yes. One of the first things we ask them to do is read the account to Jesus Christ appearing to the Nephites. We then ask them to get a witness of this book that testifies of him. Logically, they're getting a witness of the Father and the Son.
Go ahead oh mighty RM, tell us which prayer the investigator should pray first.
They start with an introduction directing the prayer to God.
Go ask the online missionaries, they all will tell you the same thing. Pray about the Book of Mormon.
Agreed, as a witness of God and Jesus finding the truth of it will clear up the whole problem quickly. If you wish to pray to ask if God is there first (many of my investigators did this) then that's fine too. Praying to get a witness of the First Vision is also not primarily about Joseph. Of the three figures there he is the least important.
