I am willing to accept that the motivation is sincere even though I cannot agree with the message. Too bad you are unable to see that in those who disagree with you and use this door on which to do their knocking....something perfectly acceptable as I read the board parameters. There is no spiritual fellowship between Christian believers and Mormon believers...how could there possibly be given Smith's foundational statements and the vast differences in Biblical belief, not to mention all the add on stuff of Mormonism? If your definition of God is the Mormon God then I certainly don't believe in that...I do take seriously, however, the charge given in Matthew 28:19-20.
Now you have changed the goal posts. You are the one who said if we did not like hearing the Truth (that is, Truth as you believe it), then we could leave. Now, I see you are here because this is your version of seeking us out, as though you were a full-time Missionary devoting 18 months (the length of time a female Missionary serves) 24/7 serving God. Yet, you go on to add that you take seriously the charge given in Matthew 28:19-20.
If you really do take Matthew 28:19-20 seriously, then you will be able to understand why it is the LDS Missionaries are answering that call, because that is exactly what they are doing. Their tactic is not one which rips apart what you believe. They are there to share what they believe. When they are berated by the homeowner, or berated on the streets, they once more do what Jesus taught; they go on to the next door. Unlike you, they do not stick their foot into the door and make a captive audience of their listeners, and then proceed to tell that audience (the readers and participants on this site) that they will be damned if they don't heed your warnings. If the Missionaries are not welcomed, they move on.
All things being equal, your use of this site (which is indeed within your rights according to the board rules), is NOT equal to your going out with a companion to teach the Good News. Nor am I (I can't speak for Tobin) seeking YOU out on a website established for your belief system, and spending my time there using anti-Baptist literature telling you what is wrong with your beliefs. More importantly, I am not using derogatory and unChristian behavior to belittle your beliefs, to make fun of you, or to warn you that you are going to spend eternity in hell if you don't give up your beliefs.
I would have to disagree with you also, in that I have many Christian friends I spiritually fellowship with. It was actually a multi-denominational musical group (of which members of the LDS Church participated), which introduced me to the LDS Church. Praise God!!
So, do you love God? You did not answer this question yet.
Did Jesus teach that we should become zealots? Did Jesus provide His Apostles with anti-Jewish literature, or anti-Pagan literature, or anti-Gentile literature to use as an argument in favor of His teachings? In fact, aren't you doing the opposite of what Jesus taught us to do? You aren't teaching the Good News, Mittens. You are teaching what you think is wrong with what we believe.
Mark 9:38-40 (KJV) (emphasis added)
38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.Do you love me like you love yourself?
Blessings,
