The oldest living trees, such as the Bristlecone Pines (Pinus longaeva) of the White Mountains of Eastern California, were dated in 1957 by counting tree rings at 4,723 years old. This would mean they pre-dated the Flood which occurred around 4,350 years ago, taking a straightforward approach to Biblical chronology.
However, when the interpretation of scientific data contradicts the true history of the world as revealed in the Bible, then it's the interpretation of the data that is at fault.
Nipper, the creationist view point is that any data that contradicts the biblical narrative is faulty. Then it works to force the data to fit the conclusion. So the YEC is forced to say that the mountains sank, the ocean basins rose, and a variety of other events occurred to make the flood happen. This raises all kinds of secondary issues that make the flood look like something that occurred in my bathtub., But nevertheless, YEC models are working opposite of letting the evidence drive the narrative. They make the narrative drive the evidence, as they assume that the narrative is inerrant.
1 Kings 7:23
And he made the molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and the height thereof was five cubits; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
So the Bible teaches us that pi = 3. Do you use 3 or the irrational pi = 3.1415926........ when you do math?
