The bits I have looked at are more of the same and I don’t think they have impacted my understanding of the situation. The amazing part is how powerful they make JD sound. He was like a god to these people. It is sad that people get so tied up in this stuff, there is an entire world about there yet they remain stuck in the small corner they have always known.

What I really, really find distasteful, among other things, is the "two option" email from Joanna, based on Dehlin's comments. If I understand correctly, this led to the 'two option' email from Rosebud that the Open Stories Foundation representatives called a "blackmail" email on the podcast. I can certainly understand Rosebud's sarcastic response to that email. If I recall correctly, the podcast published and discussed only what they called the 'blackmail' response, without referencing Joanna's offer to Rosebud, which would certainly have provided much needed context.

Notwithstanding Rosebud's inappropriate behavior, it was a despicable threat. They offered her option 1-they would tell a good story and she would get unbanned from her communities, but if she opened her mouth about the affair with Dehlin, option 2-Dehlin would get to control the story and she would be out, completely.

Joanna states in the email that this threat deal was based, among other things, upon the victim's "desire for things to remain private." Preying upon a victim like this in the middle of such a case is beyond unprofessional.

I still think Rosebud's current behavior is wrong, but every piece of information I read about how the Open Stories Foundation board and Dehlin handled this just reinforces my belief that there was a case of sexual harassment that was woefully mishandled. I don't think Rosebud has anything to gain by pushing this, but for me, what has been accomplished by this podcast and the subsequent data release is a clarification that Dehlin and his board behaved despicably. Dehlin has repeatedly stated he has never sexually harassed anyone, which is clearly not true. To me, at least, his and the board's reputations are irreparably tarnished.

Unfortunately, the time seems to be past to hold anyone accountable, so in my opinion Rosebud needs to move on. She is only damaging herself at this point. If it helps any, hopefully she understands that people now have a clearer picture, and that, for some at least, the sexual harassment committed by the Open Stories Foundation board and Dehlin will not be forgotten.

At least people here aren't taking this hook, line, or sinker. The ex-Mormon marionettes are apparently being worked by the deznazi puppet masters. While they may not be "sending their best," "a lot of people are saying" that this is classic dezinformatsia from the Russian FSB, meant to harm the two-person operation of the Open Stories Foundation operating out of Logan, Utah. Dehlin should immediately ask the New Hampshire Human Rights Commission to appoint a special counsel. If they're not able to, he could try the Minnesota Fish and Wildlife Division. But don't take the bait!

Joanna did not send a “two options” email. John Dehlin did, and he did so long after August, when the key arrangements set up by Joanna to facilitate a smooth transition had already taken place. Joanna’s shortcomings letter looked pretty anodyne and professional to me. It helps me see that she was a lot more on top of things and equal in her approach to the two parties than most people have recognized. I think she did a decent job.

It was all going smoothly and according to the preferences stated by the two parties. Rosebud unexpectedly reversed her position, refuses to resign after trying to persuade John to do the same, and puts herself in the position of receiving a termination letter under quite different conditions from John. Both parties received the same termination letter with the same severance offer. The difference was that John had already, according to a mutually agreed upon prior plan, resigned and reapplied as a contractor.

Rosebud’s document dumps make her look considerably worse. John looks about the same. Joanna, in my opinion, looks much better. What is mind blowing to me is that she thinks this stuff is helping her.

Yep, this is the vibe I'm getting. Joanna seemed to act quite decently, in a complex situation.

I don't even think John's 2 option e-mail is that bad. It's from him and Margi and he was probably bound on his side as to what was acceptable to his family if he wanted to keep the marriage together and all that. I find it hard to read any manipulation in this, it's short and to the point. Now juxtapose Rosebud's two option e-mail... it gives quite a thorough picture of the two options. And one can definitely read a lot into it.

You are correct. He sent it TO Joanna. All of the wording was 'us' and 'we' so I read it incorrectly. It doesn't change my assessment. If anything, letting the one who sexually harassed a subordinate set the terms for "options" offered to the victim is even worse.
