What's annual bill of $451 billion to a taxpayer that owes $33 trillion? According to the swamp, it's insignificant. This is Bidenomics. Bring in new foreign Democrat voters and making the American people pay for it. Biden should run for president of Mexico. He'd never have to worry about reelection again. Look at how he's sticking it to the Gringos.Chap wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:15 pmI am grateful to ajax18 for providing a link to his source, as I requested.canpakes wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 2:53 pmThis is an interesting assessment but is partisan, and relies on a number of assumptions. If I’m reading it correctly, the figure you state is a ‘worst case’ scenario based on New York City’s latest reported expenditures and applied to all assumed immigrants regardless of state/city/town location within the US, and includes an assumed number of ‘gotaways’. Even the author gives the following caveat:
“Whether the total costs to cities and towns for caring for migrants is $451 billion or my most conservative estimate of more than $34 billion, …”
That’s quite a range.
It would have been preferable, however, if when he quoted this article he had made it clear that its author told his readers explicitly that he was only able to give a rather wide range for his estimates, rather than referring only to the highest figure given.

Oh dear. After thanking him for allowing us to see his source, I said that ajax18 would have done better to give the whole range of estimates stated in the article he quotes (which go down as far as $34 billion), and what does he do?ajax18 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 8:15 pmWhat's annual bill of $451 billion to a taxpayer that owes $33 trillion? Ignores my point and makes an irrelevant point (if it can be called a point, which I am not sure it can) based on citing the maximum figure.

For the period of time that they’re ‘illegal’, right?
What happens after immigrants become ‘legal’? Do you believe that they and their children will always be a net drain on resources, even after having gained citizenship?

Looks like if we educate them they turn out really well, an asset even. And this isn’t even counting the second and third generations, where they mostly end up being a massive positive addition to our bottom line.
crap. Thanks, Ajax! It looks like massive immigration should be allowed to proceed according to your own source! Fire up them trade schools!

There will always be illegal immigrants no matter how many we've legalize, no matter how many legal immigrants we accept if we're not willing to enforce the border. Employers will always choose illegals over legals in many professions because it's cheaper. The Biden economy is a black market economy all the way up to Hunter Biden/unprosecuted tax cheat himself.

Would you want to centralize the economy or go totally democratic with it?ajax18 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 11:49 pmThere will always be illegal immigrants no matter how many we've legalize, no matter how many legal immigrants we accept if we're not willing to enforce the border. That’s not an answer to the question that was asked, is it?
Your need to blurt out Hunter Biden’s name at random and unrelated moments aside, this sentence of yours makes me wonder why you’d so ardently support a man who has manipulated the tax code, fraudulently gamed the loan process while writing off debts during bankruptcies, and hired more undocumented workers than an entire busload of Bidens could do in a lifetime.Employers will always choose illegals over legals in many professions because it's cheaper. I don’t see that you’re doing yourself any favors by pretending that Trump hasn’t been more part of the problem than any candidate you’ve disparaged over the last half-decade.

Excellent point. Yet another unequivocal example of the often repeated observation that every accusation made by MAGA Republicans is effectively an admission of their own guilt, because nearly everything they attempt to accuse Democrats of is precisely what Republicans have often been caught doing themselves!canpakes wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 3:24 amYour need to blurt out Hunter Biden’s name at random and unrelated moments aside, this sentence of yours makes me wonder why you’d so ardently support a man who has manipulated the tax code, fraudulently gamed the loan process while writing off debts during bankruptcies, and hired more undocumented workers than an entire busload of Bidens could do in a lifetime.

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Re: Biden's Economy?
So according to Gunnar, Hunter Biden did not fail to pay his taxes? And Joe Biden never received any money from James or Hunter Biden. Just as Biden said in the 2020 debate, you maintain that Hunter Biden never made money from the CCP?Gunnar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 3:43 amExcellent point. Ajax is citing a crap piece of gibberish that was done by two prominent anti-Immigration organizations, and FAIR is widely recognized as a hate group.
So yeah, he can't provide a non- partisan source for these dumb claims.
