We all know Trump wants to be a dictator. This is one of those times where he admits it. He also wants to have those Moscow-type military parades. Your suggestion of Trump taking the Emperor Seat in a gladiatorial arena was spot on.

How do you explain the fact that he said he wants his people to snap to attention the way that Kim Jong Un's people do for him?

It is not fearmongering to take Donald Trump seriously when he says something candid to a close associate.

Again, it is strange to me that something makes Trump supporters blind to the danger Trump constitutes. He has a track record of praising and envying authoritarian leaders. This statement fits the pattern, but it adds a significant element. It shows that he wants what these authoritarian leaders have: the subservient behavior of cowed subjects.

Yeah! I recognize that it is happening, and I find it absolutely nuts. I don't find them nuts. I find the situation nuts. Trump supporters ignore the many clear indications that he admires, assists, and seeks to emulate authoritarian leaders because they somehow find the status quo more dangerous.

I mean, I will be the first to tell you that the status quo is problematic, but I would never roll the dice on authoritarianism as a solution. Trump will likely join the global wave of authoritarianism, removing America from its long-held position of leader of the free world.

As long as the GOP passively supports Putin, our reputation as leader of the free world is imperiled. As long as we work to maintain the freedom of Ukraine and Taiwan, I think our reputation as leader of the free world has real substance behind it. The fact that Trump admires and seems to favor Putin does not inspire confidence. We know that Vance has signaled the desire to reward Putin's imperial invasion of Ukraine.

So, yeah, things look bad. Your preferred candidates seem to be willing to abandon American global leadership.

And I know that is exactly what many Trump voters, who are isolationists, want.
