Thanks, Huckelberry. I appreciate your thoughts.huckelberry wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 9:59 pmI think that is a realist explanation of why a lot of people voted Trump. You know just prevent teaching about slavery and kids wont hate America and will keep liking Robert E Lee statues on top of tall heroic pillars.yellowstone123 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 4:00 pmThe comedian Bridget Phetasy explains on her ten-minute and thirty-five second Dumpster Fire broadcast who she is voting for and why. I think she echos the thoughts of a small minority who post on this board. I think many readers have similar thoughts but will never post because they don't want to set themselves up for a bad experience.

I have some sympathy for her skepticism about value of transgender operations. Somehow it never crossed my mind that that would be solved by electing Trump.
Im not an educator but I wonder if teaching the basics isn’t the way to go at the beginning. To learn about warts and all takes time which can be after basic studies but if it’s something that captures a person’s attention or something that one can teach at a university and write articles about then more power to them.
I took U.S history many times, but I’m also a Californian so in school we learned and learned about early California and father Sierra and all the missions like San Diego, San Juan Capistrano, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Louis Obispo, San Jose, San Francisco, all part of California. I don’t see petitions to change the names of those cities or the state. But Father Sierra doesn’t have a stellar record with those who lived on the land when he arrived. Most people eventually learn that.
The transgender issue is a tough call, but as to children I would wait.
In California we have laws about minors driving, at what time and who may be in the car. Also, before one buys a firearm, one needs to study a booklet and pass a written test. It’s about the different fire arms, how they operate and how to store them. It stresses repeatedly about the issues teenagers face and to ensure all firearms are secure when they are present. I guess my point is that teenage years are difficult enough so why add more difficulty in those years.
