A prophecy can certainly have more than one reality, and both can be true.
To be honest, the failed prophecy simply isn’t true and is nothing more than the spirit of a lie!
The apostles claimed to preach by the Spirit® as if the time for Christ’s return was “at hand” (near) and his Second Coming was right around the corner as if he would come “quickly” (soon). In reality he never showed up to fulfill that prophecy. John wrote his vision and was told to seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. (Rev 22:10)
Rev 22:6,7 wrote:And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
I wonder if LittleNipper does as well? You know that Christians are a very divided people and do not always agree. Maybe that is why there are so many Christian churches? Something for everyone.
I don’t know. I’m not even sure I care if everyone agrees about everything. It’s really a personal belief for me, and I don’t feel compelled to make everyone agree with me.
I understand, but as a matter of observation, you would think that members of the original Christian church in the days of the apostles were unified together and aligned in matters of doctrine and prophecy -- One Lord, one faith, one baptism. Jesus taught that an organization divided against itself shall not stand. Christian unity was paramount in order for the Church (body of Christ) to stand together upright:
1 Cor 1:10 wrote:Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
One must understand that GOD's timeline and human considerations of time are not the same. GOD wants man of each generation to be ready for HIS imminent return, and the necessity of their immediate salvation in the present. The simple fact is that GOD wrote HIS WORD for that time, as well as, for future generations. We are certainly much closer to Christ's return than 2000 years ago. A whole series of prophesied events have taken place. As with a clock 1 comes before 2 and 2 before 3. Presently, the prophecies left are apparently post rapture. The reestablishment of the nation of Israel has already come. GOD established a week time schedule and as such we were are in what appears to be the 6th day or millennium. The Kingdom of Christ has not occurred yet and would be the 7th day --- a millennium of rest. The Jewish calendar regards this as the year 5786. So we are nearing the 6000 year mark, but no man knows with absolute certainty, where we are on the timeline with accuracy. Example, does the age of Adam begin the day he was created, or does it begin the day he sinned? Does GOD's time being at the point of Creation or at the moment man was created? Is AI the beast mentioned in the scripture?

I do not mean to be rude and seriously respect the decorum here in the Celestial forum but I must be honest. Please forgive my frankness.
One must understand that GOD's timeline and human considerations of time are not the same.
How utterly false. Know that the word of God says otherwise:
Gen 1:14 wrote:And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Humankind lives under the timeline prescribed by the pattern and rotation of the cosmos set by God. That is the measure established between God and man and To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A day is a day and a year is a year.
1) soon = short/not long
2) at hand = near/close by
Christ plugged those terms into the future time of his coming. Nobody can unplug or dilute those terms set by Jesus himself. The original Christian message was that Christ would return soon and the time was near at hand as plainly expressed in my previous posts. There is no justification to interpret short/near as thousands of years. That is an apologetic cop-out!
GOD wants man of each generation to be ready for HIS imminent return, and the necessity of their immediate salvation in the present.
Are you now writing new scripture? Please show me in the Bible where it says that God spoke of how future generations were to prepare for the Second Coming.
Let if be plainly understood that only one (1) generation was in play, the one in which the apostles lived as they prepared for the Second Coming. The Bible says nothing about generations to follow. You, LittleNipper, are making things up out of thin air.
We are certainly much closer to Christ's return than 2000 years ago.
Christian apologists could say the same thing 2,000 years from now. And if Christianity is still around, they will need to in order to defend the false prophecy.
