This is what needs to happen immediately. Everyone needs to go to a neutral corner and stop the nonsense. And I mean, everyone. Put posters on ignore if you need to. If that doesn't happen, it amounts to soiling our own house and waiting for the maid(s) to come clean up the mess we've made.

So stop it. Stop it now. Just stop.
Uuuhhhh!! I've been saying this for three or so weeks now. I've apologized, extended an olive branch at least 10xs on both forums and got crickets!! Notta!! I keep saying the same thing over and over. Let's stop the personal insults. So here's what I suggest. Let's either work it out here in the open or we can do it through messaging in private. Would you reach out to me through a private message? If so, feel fee, I'll answer you back. I don't hold grudges and I'm willing to forgive and forget.
What is this? No. Just no.

This isn't a classroom. This isn't a club meeting house. It's a discussion forum where adults participate on topical discussion. The position of poster carries with it individual rights and responsibilities. No one needs to be Kumbaya-ing here. Everyone needs to conform their posting habits to the rules that are stated at the top of every forum on this board.

When you sign in here, you sign on to the rules. It's that simple. It's always been that simple.

What has gone on here is serious crap when viewed through the eyes of a moderator or administrator who would need to go about the work of restoration. Almost every single poster who regularly posts in Paradise has contributed to the damage.

Own it. And then, stop it.

I have contributed to the smashing. I own it. I had to break the rules to follow the protocol. I want to be the first to own that too.
Then do it and change the behavior. If you can't resist thrashing about, then put posters on ignore.

You've simply shown that willful bad behavior needs some moderation.

I do not want to ignore the posts that are offensive, bigoted and homosexist. I want to call them out and address them head-on. I do not need a moderator for that. I would not ask anyone to do that on my behalf. If we had 94 moderators and a flaming salamander looking over this site, I would still do my own heavy lifting.

Atlanticmike's strong argument about the echo chamber is a solid argument. The ECHO CHAMBER, as he calls it, is not just a collective and common voice, it is also a passive and submissive voice by those who choose to let the ugly crap slide. I do not expect anyone to fight the bigotry and ugly judgments on my behalf, including the moderators.

I also agree with AM that the bitter crap has subsided, and that is a solid good thing. Now, if we could just tear those goggles off these conspiracy clowns we could have some real conversations.
No one is making a proposal that includes moderators doing your work for you or rescuing you or anyone else here. If you would put your "call out" grievances in a new thread topic for that purpose, that's how to avoid derailing threads until they're FUBAR.

What you are calling heavy lifting, serves only to deface and degrade the forum.

I think that he’s realizing that even with deleting old posts, there’s enough context left behind to disprove his stated ‘purpose’.

This cannot be stressed enough. What Cultellus wants to do is permitted under the rules. He just can't derail the existing thread to carry on his personal crusade. All he has to do is start a new thread, copying and pasting the offending post into the first post of the new thread. If he wants to personally attack the offending poster, the new thread has to be in telestial (Mormon discussion) or in prison (other discussion). Otherwise, the new thread can be in terrestrial or paradise.

What he can't do is derail each and every thread to pursue his personal agenda. He should start practicing now to get in the habit. If he slips up, the mods will split the thread. If he persists and creates too much work for the mods, he'll go on the queue. (For new folks, "on the queue" means posts must be approved by a moderator before they appear on the board. It's also flexible -- I could be placed on the queue for terrestial/paradise, but not telestial/prison. Or just Celestial.)

That sounds heavenly. Or paradisiacal, or whatever kingdom people are partial to.

I was wondering about the "queue" capabilities across the various forums. Given Shades' rule set, use of the queue sounds extremely helpful in cutting down on moderator work.

I do not believe the behavior was bad.
It's not that the behavior was bad. It's that it's been taking place in the wrong forum. That's what makes it in violation of the rules. You might think of it as board etiquette.

No one here cares if anyone else challenges them, calls them out, rants or what have you. It just needs to be done in the appropriate space. Shades house has many mansions which are designed for a variety of lifestyle preferences.

He is, after all, the creator of this world.

Yes and quite frankly, I think enough has been preserved to make a case if a case is what one wants to make.

It sounds that way, but it really depends on the volume of posts submitted by the person on the queue. Regardless, it is the best tool moderators have to deal with chronic rule breakers. I think it's a decent compromise between permitting rampant rules violations and deploying the ban hammer.
