That's something you'll have to decide for yourself. Be yourself and do what you feel you have to do.

For real. CFR, Qultellus.
I won’t hold my breath for the diaper dandy, by the way. He never comes through.

As long as I get my king sized pillows I don't give a flying fig or rat's ass who posts here!

I'm getting new pillows!
Does that mean Jesus blessed them?

Oh well. I'll take them anyway.

Thank goodness for that! Jesus creeps me out and I sure don't want to sleep with him let alone on his pillow.

I've covered all that up in the Celestial Forum where I spent many an hour discussing those nasty linens that Jesus was wearing.

A vote for me is a vote for objective fairness!
Hell, I’ll do a 90 day trial run. See how y’all like my moderate moderation!

Agreed. The thing I like about Shades’ system is that, while it doesn’t prohibit trolling, it’s very difficult to troll and stay within the Terrestrial/Paradise rules. Two of the main tools for trolling are detailing and personal attack. Both should result in the trolling being split off and moved to telestial/prison.Lem wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 11:04 pmAt some point, though, i think it is instructive to step back and look at the overall pattern of contributions. Any neutral viewing would acknowledge that multiple lengthy discussions by long term participants were utterly destroyed by trolls taking advantage, sadly.Gadianton wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 10:41 pmha, yeah. Well, ultimately a long-term moderating model will be something Shades endorses. For many years his system has worked and I think it's just some bad interaction of events right now.
I don't have a problem giving people lots of chances if it can be done without too much work.
For political discussions these days you almost have to give people some extra chances.
Shades does, however, have a very unique model. Many other communities simply ban trolls, but Shades’ free speech rule is admirable, in that trolling, by his rules, is technically just another form of expression. Based on the research, this is by no means a resolved issue. What people almost always focus on is the concept that the price for freedom of speech, when trolls latch on, inevitably results in a long term inability to form communities and have strong conversations. Shade’s rule of ultimately limiting such participation to certain forums, when enacted, is literally the single best solution to this problem that I’ve come across is my reading. Maybe the division into Kingdoms really is god-given.
However, in spite of my opinions as stated above, I still think Gadianton is currently handling this as efficiently and fairly as possible. I just feel bad that he loses out by not feeling free to participate, but his integrity in making that self-rule is very admirable.
Of course, as I bet Shades would remind us, we have the tools to prevent disruption. But it requires everyone to use the foe feature and to refrain from ever responding. But, human nature being what it is, I’ve never seen a group actually make a serious effort to do that.

Re: Should we bring back a moderator team?
I have been thinking more about "trolling" in general, So I decided to do a simple Google search. One of the places it sent me to had the following to say about trolling (This is only a part of the link's contents)
Signs of Trolling:
It can sometimes become difficult to tell the difference between a troll and someone who just genuinely wants to argue about a topic. However, here are a few tell-tale signs that someone is actively trolling.
Off-topic remarks: Completely going off-topic from the subject at hand. This is done to annoy and disrupt other posters.
Refusal to acknowledge evidence: Even when presented with hard, cold facts, they ignore this and pretend like they never saw it.
Dismissive, condescending tone: An early indicator of a troll was that they would ask an angry responder, “Why you mad, bro?” This is a method done to provoke someone even more, as a way of dismissing their argument altogether.
Use of unrelated images or memes: They reply to others with memes, images, and gifs. This is especially true if done in response to a very long text post.
Seeming obliviousness: They seem oblivious that most people are in disagreement with them. Also, trolls rarely get mad or provoked.
=============================================================================================================================
So considering that I have fairly frequently partaken in at least the two I have put in blue - I guess I am a troll. Actually, as I consider all of these, I think we have a lot more trolls around here than one might imagine.
