I can only speak from personal experience. Shades dealt with situations I was involved in with what I believe was a fair and evenhanded way. I can’t say the same for other moderators. They’ve been hit and miss…and often missing in action.

No one will dispute that Shades is the master. However, you could plant that seed and test it. There are several threads going on right now that you might be interested in. One is an abstract discussion about spirituality that I think might be just your thing.

From what I know of your posting history, I don't think the odds are very high that you'll be the subject of moderator action. And if someone gets nasty with you, click that report button and let's see if we can be of service.

As far as the drama of the past few days, I don't think you'd disapprove of any mod actions taken. If I recall, You're a pretty stalwart, traditional Mormon. Unless you feel slighted that you weren't able to read a bunch of posts filled with 4-letter words and x-rated language, then you've benefited.

Why, I just cleaned out a 4-letter word from about 10 posts just now. quote, requote, requote...

Anyway, when I logged back in, with the help of the guys above I realized a whole set of newly enrolled (and/or their socks, according to some) had been whispering about me, apparently in fear!

To that group, I only have this to say in response: if you are suitably masked and vaccinated, you can probably find a woman, walk right up to SIX FEET from her and, if you are able to get her attention, politely say hello. I would recommend slowly working your way up to a conversation about any academic topics, however. Exposure therapy does wonders, but an intelligent woman can be formidable to those who live in fear.

No biggie - Here's the good news: These opportunities that we all have don't vanish, they don't disappear forever, as long as any of us still have air in our lungs, these opportunities to do the right thing are always available to each and every one of us. Obviously, this includes you, Lem.
