Even if it'ss a 3% death rate, I don't agree with shutting down the economy. Even people who had COVID already are getting vaccinated. Why? Because 6 months later they can get COVID again. There will be no eradication of Covid any sooner than we can eradicate the common cold. So what does shutting down accomplish? Nothing but delaying the inevitable. It's a colossal waste of money and at a certain point, the drop in quality of life due to perpetual quarantine is worse than death.Res Ipsa wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 7:51 pmWell, since Ajax doesn't have the balls to even provide the source for his claim that COVID-19 is 99.96% "survivable," we'll just have to trace the claim on the internet. Okay, three seconds later, this was a "fact" circulating among COVID deniers back in August. Now, one would think that the rate of survivability would mean something like: "of the people infected with COVID, what percentage don't die of COVID?" But that's not what this number was back in August. It was just the reported number of COVID deaths divided by the entire population of the US. In other words, claiming that the number has anything to do with survivability is just crap.
We can estimate a couple of number that may present a plausible range of survivability:
If we divide the number of US deaths by the reported number of US cases, we get 2%
If we divide the number of US deaths by the reported number of resolved cases, we get 3%
Either of those number is two orders of magnitude greater than Ajax's BS figure.
His other claim was "99% of us don't get sick."
Another three seconds of googling reveals the source of that claim: Donald Trump. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... -harmless/ No one in the White House was able to identify the source of his claim. (But I can -- his ass)
The most recent studies estimate that 20% of cases are truly asymptomatic. They are still highly contagious. And even asymptomatic cases can result in organ damage.
Just to emphasize: Ajax parroted numbers he liked rather than spend a total of six seconds googling.
Now Democrat politicians know this. They go out to eat. They fly to visit family. They get their hair done. Most of them don't obey any of the rules they ask common people to obey. I got a real kick out of a Taco Stand in San Francisco renaming itself "French Laundry," in hopes of avoiding being shut down.
