First things first. Rittenhouse was witnessed by some folks who saw him kill Rosenbaum. I’m not convinced that Rittenhouse needed to use deadly force there, let alone fire 4 times in quick succession. He was spotted by others who asked why he shot Rosenbaum, then Rittenhouse ended up trotting down the street with his weapon lowered but forward.
If you assume that folks seeing Rittenhouse and chasing him
wanted to kill him rather than just stop/disarm him, then you must also assume that folks viewing Rittenhouse jogging down the street with a firearm at the ready position might likewise believe that he posed a threat to or wanted to kill
them. Even if they didn’t witness what they may have heard
about.
Yeah, it’s a real cluster eff. If only people had not behaved like a bunch of freaking idiots from the beginning. Too bad the guys Kyle shot were stupid fools looking to get hurt or play hero. Too bad Kyle thought it was a good idea to look for the trouble he got. He’s lucky he made it out alive. Had his targets been armed or better with their weapons, he could be dead.
But don’t you think, at the end of the day, that the verdict was correct? I mean, considering what he was charged with and what was allowed into evidence. Kyle may be a racist asshole. Flashing white power signs is not a good look. I think he probably is into that white power crap. He is, you know, kind of a young stupid loser looking to feel big and tough.
But that is no reason to say the kid is actually guilty of murder, no? And every time someone says, “Ya but . . . ,” usually what follows is a very tenuous argument that strains to make Kyle out to be something other than a stupid kid looking to be a tough guy who got in over his head. If I am on the jury, and I am asking myself if Kyle was guilty of murder beyond a reasonable doubt when guys a decade or more older than him were attacking him, well, I think it is a no brainer. There is all kinds of reasonable doubt. No one deserves to have their life destroyed for being a young, dumb kid with grotesque opinions.
I think the jury was right. I think political pressure forced a prosecutor to charge Kyle inappropriately. I think justice was done BECAUSE Kyle was a stupid kid attacked by stupid men. I am sorry those guys lost their lives. Honestly. Justice won’t be done by convicting Kyle of murder, even though there is no way in hell he should have been there brandishing an AR-15.
