The Church falls on its face with latest essay about women in the Church

That’s an incredibly uneducated and outdated (and very Mormon male) view. It’s the view of an old man stuck 50 years in the past....

Which brings us full circle back to the essay, with its similarly uneducated and outdated views about men and women. You'd think a church with that much money and so much concern for its image would be able to find a better PR firm to help them lie write these things.

The problem is it is men writing this stuff. Everything is from a man’s perspective. They genuinely don’t see the irony. The Church remains 50 years behind general society. It doesn’t lead society, it follows.

I wouldn't expect the church would follow EVERYTHING society does. If you're referring to those times the church doesn't follow in the footsteps of moral issues promoted by certain sectors of society that they find don't align at all with the principles/doctrines of the gospel, you can't blame them for that.

Can you? Oh, yes you can.

The gaslighting arrogance of Sister Dennis' statement and even the phrasing is eerily reminiscent to a similar statement from Brigham Young. He states, “with confidence, that there is no people on the face of this earth that pay more respect to females than do this people.” He even states, with a similar stipulation as Sister Dennis, that he “know(s] of no community where females enjoy the priveledges they do here.”

Remember, the three greatest threats to the church according to Boyd K. Packer are the gays, feminists, and the ever-present challenge from the so-called scholars or academics.

Diversity, equality, and intelligence scare all cult leaders, so Packer wasn't wrong.

When you dig into that statement, you can really see the isolation Mormon women operate under. My guess is a man with authority over her (ie, any of them) told her to say that, and as an obedient Mormon women, she did. I really can't imagine any intelligent women making that statement under these circumstances, unless she really was so isolated she never thought these things through.
